About the Artist

Jeanette Marshall

Jeanette N. Marshall is a Canadian artist whose work is inspired by the beauty of nature, the human spirit, and the relationship between the visible and the unseen. Through her paintings, she seeks to capture moments of quiet reflection, inviting viewers to discover both the familiar and the mysterious.

Raised on a farm in northwestern Manitoba, Jeanette developed an early appreciation for the prairie landscape that continues to influence her work today. She studied at the University of Manitoba School of Art under acclaimed Canadian artist Ivan Eyre, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours). Throughout her career she has lived and worked across Canada, exhibiting her paintings, teaching art, and pursuing independent study before establishing West Wind Studio.

Jeanette’s artistic vision has also been shaped by extensive travel and by the work of European and Canadian masters, including the Russian Realists, Caspar David Friedrich, Vincent van Gogh, and Canada’s early Impressionists. These influences have contributed to her distinctive style, which combines technical realism with a deep sense of emotion and symbolism.

Working primarily in oil, watercolor, pastel, and graphite, Jeanette explores landscapes, gardens, wildlife, and the human experience. She describes her style as Mystical Realism—a balance between realism and imagination, where everyday subjects become expressions of wonder, beauty, and spiritual reflection.

Her paintings are held in private collections, and she continues to create new work from her studio in Ontario.
